Eerie sounds from a mostly frozen lake today. Like sloshing waves beneath fragile ice.
I imagine it laughing at my caution. Waiting for me to fall thru.
Fragility’s
suspense
as sleighting hands
deliberate
between meting out
either Shelter
or muted crush.
Walking upon frozen lake today
An eagle emerges
then glides away
A privileged life is one of
grace in an everyday.
So much anger in the world
So much hatred
So much kill
Be we quiet madding voices
Be we peaceful
Be we still
Live, honour life
Love, our will.
Reaching pathway
to the sky
I pause in winds
consider consequence
contemplate cloud drift
consult cow
passersby.

If you leave
room enough
for me to breathe
we can grow
together.
Summer’s eve
on water’s edge
sundown
one towel
for two

For so long
my head could find
no hat
to match the circumference
stretching from ear one
to ear two
So now when you casually reach up
to playfully flick toss
my pale straw friend to the ground
understand
my reaction may be swift
and strong—
my memory very long.

Small birds
big faces
sat watching
hours passed
my stillness
increased
agitation flutter
passive standoff
who’s intruding who

Around me, said the cat, there was a close and blinding grey mist enveloping all.
I crouched with my eyes closed, listening to the rain and the wind.
