something’s been missing amid
these days of chaotic rumble
stirring counter to my nature
spinning my wheels
against the haunting
up the hill
heartbeat accelerates
steps mindfully cautious
of obstacles along the trail
all noise fades to distant murmur
as I find again the key to my rhythm
ravens chuckle from leafy hemlock limbs
squirrels chatter as I pass below
higher higher cedar and douglas fir reach
this green cathedral my open shelter
I met the young woman
crouching on a rise near the meadow
speaking low to her baby
exploring treasures of the forest earth
three petal trillium
sunlight and shadow
we lean to inhale her purple beauty🪶
